MAECI Solar was founded in 2010, and is a sister company of MAECI, a company that has over 100 years of collective experience in Africa. MAECI Solar in collaboration with strong channel partners such as General Electric, Eaton, Lockheed Martin, Princeton Power and academic partners and thought leaders such as University of Delaware’s Center for Energy and Environmental Policy, Princeton University and Penn State University, designs, engineers and installs solar electrical generation systems, wind electrical generation systems, solar hot water, micro-hydro power systems, LED lights and retrofit kits. The company portfolio includes, among others, off-grid micro-systems in Africa.
In 2010, through the development of renewable energy solutions in Equatorial Guinea, MAECI Solar became a world leader in the design of pre-engineered systems and innovative off grids and micro grid solutions for rural electrification and remote power systems. The company has built fixed solar electric generation systems for roof & ground mounted systems, Single-Axis Trackers, and has designed and manufactured their own line of Dual-Axis Trackers in the US, in Africa and in other parts of the world. With a team of highly qualified staff, MAECI Solar developed and continues to revolutionize industry leading procedures for both pre-assembly and installation of solar power in African countries such as Equatorial Guinea, Cameroon, Chad, Sao Tome & Principe to name a few.
MAECI, along with technical partners, have designed, built and collaborated on off-grid solar systems on 6 Continents and have successfully completed large solar projects on an international basis. Collectively generating over 10 gig watts of Solar Power to date.
UTILITY SCALE PROJECTS
MAECI Solar is a leader Sub-Saharan Africa designing, building and managing utility-scale Solar and Solar hybrid plants. MAECI Solar provides PV only as well as Solar Hybrid (PV, Storage & Generator) for a 24/7 solution. What distinguishes utility-scale solar from distributed generation is project size and the fact that the electricity is sold to wholesale utility buyers, not end-use consumers. Utility- scale solar plants provide the benefit of fixed-priced electricity during peak demand periods when electricity from fossil fuels is the most expensive. Virtually every facility is financed with a power purchase Agreement (PPA) with a utility, guaranteeing a market for its energy for a fixed term of time. Many of our utility-scale solar designs will include built-in storage capacity that provides power even when the sun is not shining, like traditional power plants. Our projects range in size from 2 MW to 200 MW. Our Solar plants generate power and feed it into the grid, supplying a utility with energy. Utility-scale solar generates reliable, clean energy with a stable fuel price. Solar power plants can be developed in a way that balances environmental protection with energy demands. PRIVATE COMMERCIAL PROJECTS
Sub-Saharan Africa is projected to be the fastest growing continents over the next 20 years in both population and economic potential. In order to stimulate this growth, and provide job opportunities to the people, energy is desperately needed. Today most businesses are powered in some capacity if not entirely by diesel generators. This both extremely costly and unsustainable and inhibits private sector growth. Private sector companies can’t afford to wait for the government and utilities to increase power production and fortify their transmissions lines and grids. MAECI Solar is a leader Sub-Saharan Africa designing, building and managing Solar hybrid plants, that provide energy to power the entire business operation, as well as the Company housing complexes occupied by the local employees. MAECI Solar provides a Solar Hybrid Solution that includes PV, Storage & Generator- that provides power even when the sun is not shining, for a 24/7 solution.
MAECI Solar will either design and build a turnkey solution, or design, build and manage the facility and sell the power to the Company through a power purchase agreement (PPA). Our projects range in size from 150 KW to 50 MW.
